VFW Ladies Auxiliary meets
The Ladies’ Auxiliary to VFW Post No. 2173 met on Thursday, September 12 at the post home in Vandalia.
President Victoria Shaw called the 7 p.m. meeting to order. Opening ceremonies were observed.
The minutes were approved as read. The treasurer’s report was filed. Correspondence read included General Orders No. 3 for October 2013 and two thank you letters from the Assistance League Supporting Missouri Veterans’ Home.
Those member present heard committee reports from Val Galloway for membership, from Americanism Chairman Norma Shaw concerning the disposal of derelict flags, and from Community Service Chairman Ann Wasson collecting hours of service.
Under unfinished business, a report of the profit and donations from the October 5 garage sale was given.
Trustee Mary Gramley gave the third quarter audit report that was found acceptable.
Motions were passed to donate a memorial for Opal Stotler, and to donate funds for the Missouri bus trip to the National Home in Eaton Rapids, Mich., for Halloween obligations.
Closing ceremonies were observed. Members in attendance were Joy Davis, Vivian Davis, Donna DeTienne, Val Galloway, Mary Gramley, Judy Hull, Norma Shaw, Victoria Shaw, and Ann Wasson.
The next auxiliary meeting is Thursday, November 14 at the post home.
