Van-Far football falls to Principia Panthers
Van-Far Indians running back Trey Hull finds a hole for a big gain on Saturday against the Principia Panthers.
With only 14 healthy players dressed to start the game, the Van-Far Indians football team traveled to St. Louis on Saturday afternoon to take on the Principia Panthers. The Indians lost to the Panthers 54-20
“Principia is a sound football team with probably the best quarterback we will see all season. He made great plays throughout the game that kept our defense on their heels,” said Van-Far Head Coach Blake Logan.
Quarterback Lucas Robinson was 18-for-30 with 265 passing yards and two touchdowns.
Trey Hull tallied six receptions for 111 yards and a touch down.
Sharrod Connor reeled in six receptions for a total of 55 yards.
Conner Albrecht racked up five receptions for a total of 78 yards.
On defense, Kyle Decker made seven solo tackles and one sack. Sharrod Connor collected three solo tackles and one interception.
“I was extremely proud of the way our guys battled throughout the game. We were exhausted and managed to make plays on both sides of the ball. It says something about the character of these kids to fight through adversity and continue to compete for four quarters,” Logan said.
Next week, the Van-Far Indians will travel to Wright City to face the 0-3 Wildcats. Last season, the Indians beat the Wildcats 28-14.
It was an extra special game, as it was the Indians first win at Homecoming in more than 10 years.
