  • R-VI board approves move to four day school week

    A few presentations were made during the Community R-VI Board meeting held last week at the district.

    After a few months of discussion, the Community R-VI School Board voted to change to a four day school week calendar for the 2015-2016 school year. A public session was held on the topic back in November. At that time, potential plans had district students out of school on Mondays while the other four days were set to be 35 minutes longer.   • Absentee ballots are available for election

    Absentee ballots for the April 7 municipal elections are now available at the County Clerk’s office. You may vote absentee in the County Clerk’s office Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The last day to vote by absentee ballot in person is Monday, April 6 at 5 p.m. If you are requesting an absentee ballot be mailed, the request must be received no later than Wednesday, April 1 at 5 p.m.

The Van-Far Lady Indians basketball team sent its seniors off on a winning note last week when it crushed Wright City on Senior Night, 51-23.     The Community R-VI Lady Trojans basketball team made its one final push to this week’s district tournament after splitting a pair of games last week. The highlight of the two games came in a State Sectional rematch from a year ago with a down Marion County team. The Lady Trojans held Marion County to three points or less in two quarters and cruised to a 71-23 victory in Philadelphia, Missouri.

Agape House has 59 guests

The Agape House of Vandalia board members met February 17 at the house. The board learned 59 persons, including 11 children, had stayed at the guesthouse in January while they visited family members incarcerated at Bowling Green and Vandalia.
