The V.F.W. Post No. 2173 is set to hold Memorial Day Services on Monday, May 28 in Vandalia. The morning cemetery tour begins with an 8 a.m. service at the Curryville Cemetery followed by an 8:30 a.m. service at the Farber Cemetery. At 9 a.m., the Memorial Garden Cemetery service begins followed by the Vandalia Cemetery’s service at 9:30 a.m.
The annual ceremony at the V.F.W. Post begins at 10 a.m. with Rev. Bob Hoehn of Spencer Creek Baptist Church giving the invocation. A presentation of colors and the “Pledge of Allegiance” will be made by the Farber Fire Explorer Post 54 while Kevin Morris will sing the “National Anthem.”
Music selections will be provided by the Second Baptist Church Choir and the St. Cecilia Music Club.
Ron Rourke will introduce Rev. Jeffery L. Mims, Sr., this year’s guest speaker from Second Baptist Church.
A grave site service will be followed by a rifle salute and a rendition of “Taps” and “Echo” performed by the Chiefs Band.
